What’s better than a cold night with my favorite tomato soup recipe? Enter grilled cheese dunkers! This meal brings me back to the days in the Kappa house where we would stuff ourselves on grilled cheese and tomato soup. Those were the best!
I’ve made some gourmet changes, but this meal still resembles this classic dish. The thick, fluffy bread really makes these dunkers scrumptious.
Any other people out there that love this flavor combination besides myself?
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 batch of this tomato soup recipe
- 1 loaf of french bread
- 3-4 Tbsp butter or margarine
- smoked cheddar cheese
Start by slicing french bread into 1″ pieces. Butter one side of each piece of bread.
Put the bread, butter side-side down, layer bread with 1-2 slices of cheese, and top with another piece of bread, butter side up.
Heat skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwich in grill for 2-3 minutes, until bread starts to brown. Flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until cheese starts to get gooey.
Remove sandwich from pan and cut in half, lengthwise into strips.
Get to dunking!
